The Abrahamic Covenant - Part One
The New Testament begins with Jesus' lineage being traced back to Abraham. In the gospel of Matthew 1:1, Jesus Christ is called 'the Son of Abraham'.
God's plan to bless the world through Abraham's lineage of was promised about 2000 years before, to Abraham. In the book of Genesis 12:3 God made a remarkable promise to Abraham, 'and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed'. Now about 4000 years later, God is still fulfilling this promise to him, not just by blessing some of his own children by natural birth, but by blessing the whole world through his future son, Jesus Christ, the promised saviour of the world, for all who have their confidence in him.

God's purpose in Jesus: "For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved." John 3:17 (kjv)
